Violin & Viola Studio
As a section coach for the Alaska Youth Orchestras, I enjoy working with students who are new to symphonic literature and teaching them orchestral etiquette.
Energy at each lesson is focused on areas as needed for each student.
I teach violin and viola lessons in my studio in downtown Anchorage. I accept students ages 4 years and older. Private lessons include music theory as a musical notation of rhythm, melody and sight reading. The students will have the opportunity to explore and become familiar with music of different periods and genres for the age-appropriate repertoire.
As a teacher, I strive to spend the majority of my energy and time on areas that are in need of focus for each student. Parents and students need to remember repeating one exercise is not simply for the sake of repetition, but rather to focus on identifying an area of weakness or problem, fixing it and then polishing it off. With the aid of repetition, we strive to find the right solution to apply.
Outside of private teaching and coaching, I am the second violin principal for the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, Anchorage Opera, and Anchorage Concert Chorus. In addition to scheduling and performing chamber recitals, I also enjoy performing with my string quartet, ENSEMBLE in black & white. I am passionate about performing, teaching, and practicing. With the right attitude and the desire to learn...playing the violin or viola is ultimately rewarding. It is my hope that the combination of great lessons and hard work at home will result in many wonderful musical experiences for each student.
